Afghanistan is located in the heart of South Asia with 252,000 square miles in total covering area. The approximate population of the country is 33 Million. Afghanistan has no coast attached to it and is the ninth largest landlocked country on the world. The nearest coast is the Arabian Sea which is approximately 480 KM to the South. This country provides some important routes which help in connecting southern and eastern Asia with Europe and Middle East. There are six neighbouring countries that share borders with Afghanistan, these include: Pakistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan. The longest border Afghanistan shares is with Pakistan, which has the length of 1,510 Miles. On the other hand, we share the shortest border with China which has the length of 220 Miles.
There are 34 provinces of Afghanistan and each province has number of districts & villages. Each province has its own provincial Governor who is responsible for looking after the social services like enhancing education system, improving healthcare & social industry and developing a sustainable infrastructure for provincial economic growth. The Provincial Governors are appointed by the President of Afghanistan; these governors have a critical role in the development and reconstruction of Afghan states.
