Due to covid-19 crisis in India and the country has reached to one million mark of corona virus cases, One of the biggest cricket league of cricket passionate nation was earlier postponed from its original schedule to be stated in march and now as the pandemic situation is getting worst in India the call to move it to UAE could be taken by the APEX council of the BCCI the board of control for cricket in India.
After the remote meet of the BCCI, the issue to move the IPL to other venue was part of the discussion between the officials and all the possible venues were discussed and UAE which earlier did host the IPL in 2014 was seen as the IDOL hosting venue considering its safer also as largely the pandemic has been in control in UAE.
The total overall cases of corona virus in UAE have been 56,422 out of 48448 have been recovered and 337 deaths, Whereas India, has crossed 1 Million cases and the 3rd worst hit country in the world from pandemic only behind Brazil and US.
Hosting a tournament with a big schedule of 60 matches isn’t possible especially when the top of the team’s home cities are among the worst hit cities as Mumbai have 84524 while Delhi has 119000 cases reported till now. And the steep rise is also seen in Tamilnadu the Home of Chennai super kings and in Bangalore the home of IPL Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Due to the security reason and implementation of the protocol for the players to prevent them from any potential infect ion and logistics and practice issues, it wasn’t feasible to host the IPL in India and changing the venue to UAE is a far better option than taking a call for suspension for the year 2020.
UAE did show its interest and was keen to host the tournament as it has three hosting venues the oldest one is Sharjah which is hosting international cricket since 1984, Dubai International stadium, and Abu Dhabhi.
UAE also has the headquarters of ICC and is a transit hub of International flights, The practice facilities are good and a lot of Sub continent citizen lives in UAE which is great fan followers however the plan to hold the matches will be in close doors without the crowd.
The T-20 International cricket world cup is also scheduled in October November and any final call to host the IPL would only be based on that in order to avoid the schedule clash as only in case ICC postpones the world cup the further concrete call to organize the IPL for the year 2020 can be taken as nothing is official yet and BCCI is looking forward for the result of ICC meet on Monday on world cup schedule to make any further plan to organize the IPL
