Cricket: West Indies Beat England in First Test by 4 wickets

In one of the best test matches, West Indies beat England by 4 wickets chasing 200 in fourth innings at Rose bowl Cricket Ground Southampton England. Jermaine Blackwood played one of the finest knocks of 95 in a successful chase of 200. A knock combined with the confident stroke play all over the ground.

England lead by all rounder Ben Stokes in absence of test side routine captain Joe Root. The cricket played without the presence of the crowd saw one of the best test matches and famous West Indies win. The team was lead by Jason Holder the young captain who was there at the end and finished the match with retired hurt opener Campbell who came back at fall of 6th Wicket when only 11 runs were needed Jermaine Blackwood hit the ball at mid off and caught by James Anderson on the bowling of Ben stokes, He missed his what would have been the super 100 to remember only by FIVE runs, But not before standing his team at victory door which was looking challenging in morning session when west indies were at 20 for 3 and opener Campbell was retired hurt and Jefra Archer was firing with his deliveries and claimed two wickets in the morning.

However, the session between lunch and tea went in favor of the West Indies as west Indies lost only one wicket in that session and scored at a decent strike rate. The Jason holder’s team shown great commitment and character which was lacking for many years in West Indies, The team which dominated world cricket once and produced greats like Brian Lara and Vivian Richards with a deadly bowling line up.

In the Caribbean, the cricket fans woke up on Sunday morning and watched on televisions that the match is nicely set up for what could be a  a great news around afternoon for West Indies and the team indeed didn’t let them down and set up the Sunday nicely for west indies cricket fans in the Caribbean and all over the globe.

In the 3 test match series, West Indies has got 1 -0 lead with other 2 matches to be played, if West Indies could register one more win or results remains  draw in rest two test matches that would eventually make them the test series winner which would be not less than a dream tour of this tremendous bunch of players.

Joe Root will join England in 2nd test and take over from Ben stokes to lead the side and will be nice to see how he overcomes with this situation where the host is down 0-1 in 3 test matches.
